Poetry is the perfect art for the 21st century — it's brief, immediate, and packs a punch. But a lot of us feel intimidated, or simply a little confused, when the subject comes up. What counts as a poem? Are there special rules? Why is poetry important in an age of Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube? In this presentation led by former Madison Poet Laureate, Sarah Sadie, you’ll learn a little bit about the hows and whys of poetry, and write a few poems of your own! This experiential presentation will include writing exercises guaranteed to get your pen moving and your words flowing.
