Name: Technology Law Seminar 2017: Dissecting a Data Breach and Mitigating the Risks
Date: May 10, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM CDT
Event Description:
Every company faces risks relating to data privacy and security. The concern is no longer if a data breach will occur, but when. Yet most companies are not adequately prepared for a potential breach or loss of data. Join Husch Blackwell, M3 Insurance, Sikich and Wisconsin Technology Council for an in-depth discussion of the risks that data breaches pose to large and small companies, what to expect when confronted with one and how to mitigate the effects of a breach.

Topics
  • Mock Data Breach: During our morning session, moderated by Tom Still, president of Wisconsin Technology Council, we will walk through a mock data breach. This presentation will provide a wealth of information on what to expect after a security incident, including legal risk analysis, cooperation with law enforcement investigations and conducting information technology forensic investigations.
  • Mitigating the Risks of Data Security Breaches: V. Miller Newton, CEO of PKWARE, will discuss how to identify vulnerable data and close security gaps with encryption technology and other methods.
  • Mitigating the Effects of Data Breaches Before They Happen: Our afternoon session will focus on providing practical tools for mitigating the risks associated with a data breach. We will discuss data breach response planning, cyber insurance, outsourcing IT security and smart contracting to reduce exposure.
